The Foxton Centre and its youth groups have taken on responsibility for a rundown green space in Frenchwood with the backing of Preston City Council. A programme of improvements has started with initial funding raised by local young people and matched contributions from Comic Relief. To date we have we have demolished and replaced a cabin facility and with the help of local volunteers cleared the area of rubbish, debris and overgrowth.
In 2019 we are transforming the area to reflect the aspirations of young people and the community. Capital funding has been secured to achieve some of this work and are now looking for local organisations and companies to volunteer their time to help us design and build each of our mini projects.
In advance of our launch community day – come down this Easter Saturday between 12 noon and 6pm – watch the following video and hear our youth worker, Sam Gregson, talk about the Smith’s Rec project.
How we’ve helped.
As a volunteer at the Foxton day centre, it opened my eyes to a lot of different aspects of the day to day running of the day centre and the help that was available.
I feel that the Foxton has a massive impact on people’s lives from what I have experienced over the last year and a half since we started delivering the art project in partnership with the Foxton.
The Foxton have been a life saver for me and my partner. They have helped us get back on our feet.
