Important update: a data security incident affecting Beacon, a third party CRM system used by The Foxton alongside 1500 other UK charities

Last updated: 5 August 2026

We want to let you know about a data security incident affecting Beacon, the system we use to manage some of our donor, fundraiser and volunteer information.

What happened

On Monday 3 August 2026, we were told by Beacon, our customer relationship management (CRM) provider, that they had experienced a cyber-security incident. An unauthorised third party gained access to Beacon’s systems using compromised login details. Beacon’s investigation has found that copies of their encrypted database backups were made, and the evidence available suggests this data was likely downloaded.

What this means for you

If you are a donor, fundraiser, volunteer or supporter of Foxton, some of the information we hold about you in Beacon may have been affected. This could include contact details such as your name, address, email address and phone number, along with a record of your relationship with Foxton (for example, donations made or events attended).

We want to be clear: Neither Foxton nor Beacon stores financial information, such as bank details or card numbers. We have confirmed with Beacon that no financial data was compromised in this incident.

What we’ve done

• We have reported this incident to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), as we’re required to do as the organisation responsible for your data.
• We are working closely with Beacon as their investigation continues, and monitoring for any further updates.
• We are contacting everyone we believe may be affected directly.

What you should do

• Be alert to emails, texts or phone calls that claim to be from Foxton or another organisation, especially if they ask you to click a link, share personal details, or make a payment.
• If you’re ever unsure whether a message is genuinely from us, contact us directly using the details below rather than replying to the message or clicking any links.
• You don’t need to take any other action at this stage.
