Support for vulnerable women
At Foxton, we provide crucial support to vulnerable women, including those who are homeless, rough sleepers, and individuals involved in sex work. Our services are designed to offer trauma informed support and include assertive outreach efforts throughout the week, including weekends.
Our outreach services offer advice, support, food and sexual health services. We also provide a drop-in service where women can get warm, have a meal, seek health and safety advice, and access shower facilities. To enhance safety for women involved in sex work, we collaborate with the national UGLY Mugs reporting service.
In addition to outreach, we conduct one-on-one sessions and targeted group work during the day. We offer referral routes to various essential services, such as domestic abuse support and assistance for modern slavery.
Our work involves close collaboration with the Police, NHS, drug and alcohol services, public health and Preston City Council to ensure wrap-around support for the women we assist.
During the 2023-2024 period, we conducted 221 sessions, including 91 drop-in and 127 outreach sessions. These efforts resulted in 640 engagements with vulnerable women on the streets.
Our dedicated Women’s Team, consisting of committed staff and volunteers, has supported these women for many years, continuing their work through both secured funding and donations. We also have a dedicated Women’s Centre, in New Hall Lane in Preston.
