A cornerstone of the community since 1969

Foxton is a Preston-based charity which has been a cornerstone of the city’s community for over 55 years.
It originally started life in 1969 when Brian Foxton, a Reverend from the local churches in Preston under Blackburn Diocese, opened the Foxton Centre to support young people and adults in Avenham and Frenchwood.

Over the years, Foxton has evolved to become a vital community resource.
The original Foxton Youth and Community Centre, still running today, offers youth clubs and a variety of community activities, supporting both young people and local families.
In 2024, young people in Foxton secured £2.4m from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport’s Youth Investment Fund, to build a new Youth and Community Centre, to open in 2025.

Foxton also provides essential services for vulnerable women and rough sleepers and homeless people across Preston.

The dedicated Foxton Women’s Services team, operating from our Women’s Centre provides crucial support to vulnerable women, including those who are homeless, rough sleepers, and individuals involved in sex work. Our services are designed to offer comprehensive assistance and include outreach efforts throughout the week, including weekends.

Foxton offers a drop-in service where women can get warm, enjoy a meal, seek health advice, and access shower facilities. Additionally, Foxton runs its well-known Homeless Day Centre, located on Fox Street in Preston (though it’s not linked to it name!)

It offers daily support and outreach services, working with rough sleepers to provide resources, safety, and care. In its first month centre supported 145 individuals, demonstrating the critical need for its services. Alongside the Day Centre, Foxton’s Emergency Housing Project, launched in 2022, offers 14 en-suite rooms for rough sleepers to begin addressing their challenges.

Foxton also operates a supported accommodation program, offering over 35 Bed spaces across Preston.

Foxton has been supporting communities since 1969, staying true to its values for over 50 years. While the organisation has evolved, its unwavering commitment to ‘being there’ for vulnerable groups and advocating for those in need remains at the heart of its mission today.

How we’ve helped.

The Foxton has saved my life. If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be here today. They truly are amazing.

Helen

Foxton is a place of safety and comfort and as for Lynda, she means the world too me. She is always there for me and I walk away feeling 100% better in myself.

Jess

The Foxton Centre is not only a safe space for our service users, but they communicate well with us as probation practitioners ensuring we are aware of any concerns they have and that we can reach out to them for support and advice.
